If you’ve been following Elon Musk on X (formerly Twitter), you’ll know that he’s very active on the social media platform. Musk constantly has something to say, whether it’s announcing important information about his various firms, replying to trolls (or being one at times), engaging in banter with his staff, or expressing his opinions on particular topics. Musk’s most recent tweet is about a Windows laptop that he’s having trouble with it.

The X boss is so dissatisfied with his purchase that he decided to criticize Microsoft in a tweet. So, what precisely is Musk having trouble with? Windows requires you to create a Microsoft account to utilize it.

Musk explained in a tweet that he had purchased a new laptop and is unable to access it without first creating a Microsoft account. The tech billionaire went on to say that he does not want to “give Microsoft AI access to his computer” and so does not want to have a Microsoft account.

“Just bought a new PC laptop and it won’t let me use it unless I create a Microsoft account, which also means giving their AI access to my computer! This is messed up. There used to be an option to skip signing into or creating a Microsoft account. Are you seeing this too?,” he wrote.

Interestingly, X’s community notes feature highlighted in Musk’s tweet that it is possible to install the latest version of Windows without a Microsoft account. However, Musk stated in another tweet that Community Notes was not working properly because the option to set up Windows without creating a Microsoft account is no longer available.

“Community Notes is failing here. This option no longer exists,” he wrote.
