Exclusive : Lionel Messi is set to reject PSG’s contract extension offer , Barcelona to try first
According to Marca, Lionel Messi is set to reject PSG’s contract extension offer in order to return to his boyhood club Barcelona.
Messi left Barcelona on a free transfer in 2021 and joined PSG.
“As of today, Leo Messi’s intention is not to extend his contract with PSG and, as a result, not to renew his deal with the Paris-based side,” Marca quoted Spanish journalist Gerard Romero as saying.
Romero also stated that Messi’s mentality has changed as a result of his World Cup victory in Qatar.
“The victory in the World Cup in Qatar has changed his way of thinking, as he values other things for the immediate future.”
Lionel Messi may be on course to win his 8th Ballon Dor this year.

Barcelona keen to sign Lionel Messi first
Barcelona is now widely regarded as the leading contender to sign Messi. Inter Miami have previously been mentioned as a possible destination for the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner, having already discussed the move with David Beckham and owning property in the area.
Other clubs interested in signing the 35-year-old star include Inter Miami, Newell’s Old Boys, and even Al-Hilal.
The Saudi Football Federation’s General Secretary, Ibrahim Alkassim, has denied rumours that Argentine superstar Lionel Messi will follow in the footsteps of his eternal rival Cristiano Ronaldo and join a Saudi Premier League (SPL) club next summer.
“At the moment we do not know anything about a possible Lionel Messi arrival, although I do not hide that, as Saudi Federation, we would like to have him one day in the domestic league,” he told Marca.
‘The idea of the Federation is always to improve our football, and of course we would like to see Cristiano and Messi in the same league again, but the truth is that we don’t know anything now,’ he added.
