Exclusive : A 5.9 magnitude earthquake hits Nepal, tremors felt in New Delhi and Rajasthan.
Tremors were felt in the National Capital Region and Rajasthan after an earthquake struck Nepal
According to officials, a 5.9-magnitude earthquake jolted Western Nepal on Tuesday, killing one person and damaging a number of houses.
The earthquake struck the region at 2:43 PM local time, with the epicentre in the Mela area of Bajura district in Sudurpaschim province, according to Lok Bijaya Adhikari, head of the Earthquake Measurement and Research Centre.
According to police, a 35-year-old woman was killed in Gaumul Rural Municipality-2 when a falling rock struck her while she was cutting grass in the nearby forest.

According to the provincial police chief, the earthquake damaged a number of houses in the districts of Bajura and Bajhang.
Two houses were destroyed in Ward No. 7 of the Badimalika Municipality of the Bajura district, which is located 450 kilometres west of Kathmandu. According to police, a temple in the municipality has also developed cracks.
A landslide caused by the earthquake killed over 40 sheep, according to police, who added that one person was injured in the incident.
According to Monika Dahal, the head of the National Earthquake Monitoring and Research Centre, the 5.9-magnitude quake was felt throughout Western Nepal. Some parts of neighbouring India were also affected.
Earthquakes of mild to moderate intensity are common in western Nepal.
Three tremors struck Western Nepal in quick succession in December 2022.
A 7.8-magnitude earthquake struck Nepal in April 2015, killing nearly 9,000 people and injuring nearly 22,000 more. It also caused damage to over 800,000 homes and schools.
