Several Twitter accounts, including former US President Donald Trump, have been unbanned from the platform.

Kangana Ranaut was banned in 2021

In May 2021, Ranaut’s Twitter handle was banned for allegedly violating the platform’s terms. Speaking on her suspension to OpIndia, Ranaut had said, “I want to request everyone keep the focus on Bengal violence and pressurise the government to stop the genocide. The whole focus has gone on the suspension (of my Twitter account). It does not matter; I can come via many platforms, let’s not make it about that.”

While Twitter claims that her account was suspended due to hateful behaviour, Kangana has made it clear that she was seeking justice for people killed in Bengal after Mamata Banerjee’s TMC won a landslide victory in the recently concluded assembly elections.

Kangana Ranaut recently completed the acting schedule for the much-anticipated film ‘Emergency,’ in which she plays former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. It is a period piece based on the events of 1975-1977 during the Emergency. She is said to have mortgaged all of her property in order to make the film. Ranaut wrote the story for the film, which she directed and produced. The film is set to be released in 2023.
